Here's my proof...

From Merriam-Webster's Dictionary entry for "dragon":

a mythical animal usually represented as a monstrous winged and scaly serpent or saurian with a crested head and enormous claws

Now...where's your proof that they DO exist?

Well first off, "myth" doesn't mean fictional.. It means it's "profoundly true" to those who believe it, while being considered fictional to everyone else. See every single religion in existance for a good example of myths. Also, many truths were labeled as myths by non-believers, and took a very long time to prove otherwise.

But apart from that, I have to say that I'm rather disapointed that you'd just quote a book that provides no more evidence than just saying dragons are mythical creatures. Weren't you the one having that spat with pete daniels about not caring what the book says, but the proof behind what it says? (Might have been steam, but then, I'd still have to say the same thing to you). You havn't shown me anything but the same statement that "dragon's don't exist" that you've said all along, but with nothing more to back it up.

So, untill you actually come up with something that actually resembles fact instead of opinion, the only proof that I really feel the need to bring forth in evidence of the existance of dragons is this: I am a dragon. Unless you can come up with some evidence that dragons don't exist, there really isn't anything I need to bring forth to defend our existance..

Weren't you the one having that spat with pete daniels about not caring what the book says, but the proof behind what it says?

No, I was the one having the spat with Pete Daniels about believing what only ONE author has to say on the subject.

Every book that mentions dragons either SPECIFICALLY says that they're mythical, or the book is labeled as "fantasy"...

the only proof that I really feel the need to bring forth in evidence of the existance of dragons is this: I am a dragon.

No you're not. Dragons don't exist. If you're a dragon, then you don't exist. If you don't exist, then there's no way we could be having this conversation.

Unless you can come up with some evidence that dragons don't exist, there really isn't anything I need to bring forth to defend our existance..

How do you expect me to prove they don't exist? By showing pictures devoid of dragons? By asking someone who doesn't have a dragon as a pet? By talking to someone who has never slain a dragon?

It's easier for you to prove that they do exist than it is for me to prove that they don't. So, go ahead Phoenix...prove me wrong. You keep saying I'm wrong, but you have yet to prove it. Show me a photograph of a dragon. Show me some home videos of dragons. Come to my house and breath fire all around and burn down my town. Do SOMETHING! Back up your claims with something other than "well, I said so, so there!"

One thing's for sure though...I wish I had a copy of that picture of you that you posted a while back that plainly showed that you're not a dragon...

I wish I had a copy of that picture of you that you posted a while back that plainly showed that you're not a dragon...

You mean, shows that I'm not physically a dragon. So? I'm not. I've never said I'm physically a dragon. I know I don't have my wings or tail or scales or any of that other stuff right now. But I am still a dragon, inside. I can feel my wings and tail every now and then, just ghosts of their true self. I have seen other dragons on occasion, and I talk with others on a daily basis. There are lots of other dragons out there, too, each of whom would quite strongly disagree with you (And many would argue their points much better than me, as they've done so many times before).

And as for all stories with dragons in them being labled mythical or fantasy.. They're all written by humans. Western culture as a whole has a generally strong negative view of dragons. I certainly wouldn't take the view of a group of peope who have an already strong negative bias towards a topic as the final word on a matter.

How do you expect me to prove they don't exist? By showing pictures devoid of dragons? By asking someone who doesn't have a dragon as a pet? By talking to someone who has never slain a dragon?

Heh.. So your whole argument is based off a lack of proof, not an abundance of it. You simply are saying that, because you've never seen one, we don't exist? Lovely.. The idea that humans as a whole definitively know every single aspect of the universe around them is not only plainly false, but horribly conceited. (And no, I'm not claiming that dragons do, either..)

No you're not. Dragons don't exist. If you're a dragon, then you don't exist. If you don't exist, then there's no way we could be having this conversation.

Well then.. Since we are having this conversation, and I am a dragon, I guess that means dragons do exist...

How do you think, say, a christian or jew would react when they tell you about their religious beliefs, and just because you don't believe in them, you tell them they should "seek professional help" and that they're "not right in the heat". They'd be pretty damn pissed at you for that, now wouldn't they? You should think before you start spouting off..

Now that's just the nice old typical xenophobic reaction of modern culture. If it isn't "normal", it's bad. It's been used for bigotry and hatred of others for hundreds or thousands of years, and it's still got people pushing it today. If someone isn't "normal", he's a "freak", and needs to be "fixed" (Politically correct word for exterminated, converted, or exhiled).

And actually, my parents are quite fine with it (Especially my dad). Not everyone is as judgemental and xenophobic as the average person, you know.

1) Your parents fully support you for one of two reasons.

a) They think it's cute and don't realize the extent of your illness

b) They don't care and appease you.

2) Please explain to me how this is a religion unless you pray or give homage to a higher being or beings. You seem to pick and choose your definitions at will

3) You do NOT have any idea as to the extent of my arguing skills. You have no facts. Your entire argument is based upon "a feeling". You cannot get any more intangible than that. You argue that we have no proof that Dragons do not exist. Well, if you weigh "a feeling" versus no "documented sightings, skeletal remains, etc" I'm going with the latter.

2) I've never claimed it's a religion. I was simply comparing one example of strong beliefs with my own. They are not the same in the technical aspects, but they are certainly the same in the strength of their conviction and in the way that many others disbelieve it.

3) I've seen proof for myself, but that isn't the kind of proof that can be shared. But do remember this; Just because you havn't seen something to be true doesn't discount the possibility of its existance. Dinosaurs existed (Alive or as fossils) for millions of years before a human dug up a fossil and recognized it for what it was.. And many people (Particularly religious leaders, who the theory of a species going extinct without human interaction directly challenged the common belief of the time) denied the possibility of their existance, despite having such proof. It's still debated by some to this day. As I've said before, thinking that one knows everything about the universe around them, especially about subjects in which they have no proof, is not only obviously false, but horribly arrogant and conceited..

All I'm saying is that things can exist without you having specific proof that it does.. Or was the earth flat before they proved it was round? Did dinosaurs not exist up untill the very moment someone dug out a fossil and figured out what it was? *Sigh*

Now we all know that religous beliefs, ecspecially extreme ones, are not tolerated by others. Thank you for enlightening us. Most of us don't TALK about our religions, or beliefs. I'm sure there are many people on this forum who're religion other than christian, or don't have a religion. But they're not trying to force it down our throats, AND/OR redicule somone else's beliefs.

Haha, funny.. :P

Well, from what I can see, there are three things he could be saying, none of which particularly make sense:

1) Most people don't talk about their beliefs: I only did so after having someone directly challenge them, so I don't see what that could have to do with it.

2) Most people here don't try to "force it down our throats": I havn't even come close to doing that, quite the opposite, actually. I didn't start the topic, I just defended my views on the matter against people wo were trying to challenge my beliefs (Or force their beliefs down my throat)

3) Most people don't ridicule other people's beliefs: If that's directed to me, it's been directed to the wrong person here..

But since you seem to be so "wise and all-knowing", I'm sure you can "enlighten" me with what he really means.. :P

Inferior human? Well, I suppose this is another example of you putting words into other people's mouth. I've never said so, and I certainly don't think so. I'm very proud of my race as a whole, and I'm certainly glad to be a dragon instead of a human, but I don't think humans are "inferior" in any way...

But to be honest, even I don't know, really. I doubt there are many dragons that would know, or at least, to a precision that some people here would be satisfied. Shouldn't be too surprising, though, humans still can't agree where they came from, so.. };>

Hmm. Apparently you need a refresher course in vocabulary ...

Theology:

Main Entry: the·ol·o·gy Pronunciation: thE-'ä-l&-jE Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural -gies Etymology: Middle English theologie, from Latin theologia, from Greek, from the- + -logia -logy Date: 14th century 1 : the study of religious faith, practice, and experience; especially : the study of God and of God's relation to the world 2 a : a theological theory or system <Thomist theology> b : a distinctive body of theological opinion <Catholic theology> 3 : a usually 4-year course of specialized religious training in a Roman Catholic major seminary

Belief: Main Entry: be·lief Pronunciation: b&-'lEf Function: noun Etymology: Middle English beleave, probably alteration of Old English gelEafa, from ge-, associative prefix + lEafa; akin to Old English lyfan Date: 12th century 1 : a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing 2 : something believed; especially : a tenet or body of tenets held by a group 3 : conviction of the truth of some statement or the reality of some being or phenomenon especially when based on examination of evidence

Thanks, come again. Next?

Well that's nice, you can look in a dictionary.. Now what does that have to do with what I was saying? I never said that theology had anything to do with what I was talking about; I was giving it purely as an example of another, similar subject that you should avoid if your debating skills are truely limited to what you've displayed so far..

Fact: There are no skeletons of dragons known to exist today.
